Vanguard Eldercare's innovative care doesn't end with patient diagnosis and treatment. We work with long-term care facilities on complex medical management issues and regulatory compliance that help facilities establish and maintain high standards of care and compliance. As a comprehensive medical group, Vanguard provides consistent, daily support to our facilities, their staff, their residents, and their resident’s family, as we are also available via on-call services with our talented clinicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Medication Management and Antipsychotic Reduction
Our staff assesses medications prescribed for Vanguard patients to create a plan to gradually decrease the usage of psychotropic medications, both to improve patient well-being and to comply with CMS guidelines. Additionally, other medications are regularly reviewed to prevent interactions and eliminate those that may be adversely affecting the patient's mental health.
Maintaining Facility Oversight and Regulation
We understand the importance of regulatory compliance. Vanguard's services ultimately enhance and elevate a facility's ability to care for challenging patients so that they, their families, and facility staff are pleased with care. Our programs are designed to help maintain regulatory compliance via expert clinical leadership, improved documentation, reduced re-hospitalization, and most importantly, improved patient-focused outcomes.
Education and Training
Our team offers in-service education programs to long-term care facilities to help staff maintain best practices and the highest levels of care. We are able to tailor these programs to fit a facility's specific needs, working with the leadership team individually or as a group as they deem necessary.
Family Counseling and Advising
It is important for family members to know what to expect during the course of treatment for their loved ones. We encourage family members to be active in their care and offer to meet with them to discuss their diagnosis and treatment plan.

From its inception more than 15 years ago, Dr. Posar and Vanguard Eldercare have provided an unmatched level of medical care and innovation. Dr. Posar recognized the demand for integrated psychiatric, neurological, medical, and psychological health care to adult and elderly patients with neurological and/or behavioral illness.
Dr. Posar's robust experience as both a Gerontologist and entrepreneur have helped elevate the standard of care provided to this often forgotten population.
Sima Cutler, Esq., Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer

Sima Cutler serves as Vanguard Eldercare’s Chief Compliance Officer, ensuring compliance with laws, regulatory requirements, policies, and more. Her career path is one marked with notable achievements and professional responsibility, including, but not limited to: employment litigation, labor law, estate planning, and small business counsel.
Ms. Cutler holds a JD, magna cum laude, from Capital University Law School. She also earned a BA in Political Science with a Minor in Art History from The George Washington University. In the chance she has spare time, Ms. Cutler enjoys travelling, visiting museums, and studying the French language.
Kyle Dworchak, Chief Financial Officer

Kyle Dworchak started his role as CFO of Vanguard Eldercare (VGE) in June of 2019. He oversees all financial functions of the company, including billing, accounting, and more. He brings extensive experience in the intersection of finance and health care. Most recently, he served as the CFO of National Radiology, where in 6 years’ time he helped grow the company to over $1b in revenue. Prior to that, Kyle served as CFO of a national surgical hospital in Michigan.
Kyle holds a BA in Finance from Michigan State University and an MBA in finance from Wayne State University. He is married to his wife, Cassandra, and is a proud father of four daughters and one son. During his time off he can be found road tripping across the US and Canada.
Ed Shebel, Chief Marketing Officer

Ed Shebel assumed the role of Vanguard Eldercare's (VGE) Chief Marketing Officer in November 2018, bringing with him more than two decades of award-winning health care strategies and marketing tactics.
Ed prides himself for having begun his marketing career as an intern at a health care marketing company -- washing coffee mugs and shredding documents. He worked his way from intern to Director of Business Development and Partner. He is responsible for more than 90 national and international awards for marketing strategy and tactics including Communicator Awards, Healthcare Advertising Awards, and Healthcare Marketing Impact Awards.
Daniel Heiser, Psy. D., HSSP, Vice President, Behavioral Health
As Vanguard Eldercare’s Vice President of Behavioral Health, Dr. Heiser works to provide a comprehensive and compassionate approach to the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of Vanguard’s patients. Dr. Heiser utilizes pioneering care protocols that stress the importance of continuity of care to address issues in a timely and holistic manner to help identify and treat the underlying causes of our patients’ conditions before they lead to additional concerns.
Dr. Heiser earned his Psy.D. from Adler University and has years of practical clinical experience. He and his wife are proud parents to their dogs and enjoy vacationing in Florida to escape the chilly Midwest winters.
Anita Reid, Vice President, Nurse Practitioner Services

As Vanguard Eldercare’s Vice President of Nurse Practitioner Services, Anita brings decades of expertise as a nurse practitioner to each facet of Vanguard Eldercare. She oversees the team of nurse practitioners and assures that Vanguard works closely with each facility’s nursing staff to provide an unparalleled continuum of care. She makes sure the entire Vanguard Eldercare clinical team strives to provide seamless ongoing neurological, medical and behavioral health care for each patient, and helps to maintain the highest level of clinical and pharmacological standards.
Anita holds a BSN from Boston University, and earned her MSN from Rivier University. She is a proud mother and grandmother, and can often be found gathering her family for seasonal photos, meals, and adventures.
Tammy Sorba, Associate Vice President of Regional Management

Tammy Sorba, Associate VP of Regional Management, ensures the growth and support of facilities Vanguard serves in northern Indiana and southern Michigan. Tammy has been with Vanguard for over 10 years, and has 30 years of long-term care experience, from nursing assistant, to medical records, to social services.
Tammy’s 4 children and 10 grandchildren are the light of her life, and her spare time is spent with her husband travelling to visit them.
Robyn Scherrer, Senior Regional Director
Robyn Scherrer, Senior Regional Director at Vanguard Eldercare, currently oversees markets in the southern Indiana region. Robyn joined Vanguard to help develop and increase contracts, having years of experience working in long term care markets.
Before joining the Vanguard team, Robyn worked with American Senior Communities for 9 years in marketing, then progressing to a director level, and ultimately as director of sales development. Along the way, she earned praise and accolades, including 2013 marketing leader of the year.
Robyn holds a degree in Organizational Communication and Hospitality Management from Ball State University. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with her children and husband.
